CE marking permission is granted to a product through the procedure of CE certification. This should ideally begin early in the product development process, as it is beneficial to understand how CE standards are developed for environmental impact, user health, and product safety. Products must meet the technical requirements of Harmonised Standards, which are set by several European standards organisations including CEN and CENELEC, in order to be considered compliant.
